Pausing Payments
Recentering Open Hours and Consultation Work through the US Election
The fall has been too busy for extra-curricular writing, so I’m hitting “pause” on the Substack payments for a couple of months. I’ll try to keep intermittent posts going here and there (especially to foreground great writers that I’ve been following), but I don’t want to go back to accepting any money on this site until we get past the US election (and until I can get a couple of over-due articles up).
In the background, Dani and I are recentering Open Hours and doing some labor-intensive consulting work as we head toward November and the looming political unknown.
If you have been planning to make political donations, do it yesterday! And if you have time and energy to spare, door-knocking to get out the vote is the most effective action there is, this late in the game. The time for persuasion is long past; now it’s all about dragging to the polls every sentient American who still values liberal democracy.
Wishing you all strength and some moments of real solace over the next three to… who knows how many weeks? Do what you’re able, find time for self-care, and stop by Open Hours, if you need some space to process the times!
